Job Description

The Vice President of Marketing will serve as Outback’s senior marketer and thought partner to the Brand President and the Bloomin’ Brands Chief Marketing Officer. This leader will be a dynamic marketing professional, with exceptional leadership, team building, strategic and digital marketing skills with a ‘roll up his/her sleeves and do what it takes’ approach.


This role will lead marketing operations for the Outback Steakhouse brand, managing the end-to end marketing process with a focus on continued digital transformation. He/she will also be responsible for cultivating an agile culture to create meaningful initiatives that drive growth for the business.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


* Lead the development and execution of Outback’s marketing strategies to build brand equity and generate consumer demand that facilitates profitable growth.

* Direct the development and oversee the execution of all marketing activities including brand strategy, website, annual marketing calendar, advertising (digital, email, etc.), promotions, PR, CRM, local marketing.

* Participate in the development, evolution, and execution of overall business strategy, serving as the "voice of the consumer" among the senior leadership team, with partners and agencies. This will require that new initiatives be grounded in consumer insights and supported by verifiable data and analytics when available/appropriate, a strong bias for action and a willingness to take calculated risks.

* Develop PR and promotional strategies and plans to support driving traffic to restaurants. Leverage national efforts and create locally appropriate programs as necessary.

* Act as champion of digital transformation and for developing a culture of ‘continuous learning’ through challenging status quo and finding ways of working.

* Create ideas and propositions to drive sales and traffic through customer acquisition, frequency, up-sells, etc.

* Leverage Performance Marketing, Analytics and Media to integrate data-informed marketing strategies that drive outcomes and improve ROI.

* Serve as the champion for the Outback brand, ensuring all initiatives both build and enhance its value to consumers while safeguarding the brand reputation, joint with risk, investor relations, legal, compliance and security - via marketing operations.

* Oversee data-informed design across audience, creative, media and tech incorporating learnings that drive digital/media ROI. Use customer centric insights driven by research and analytics.

* Influence customer/audience segmentation approaches and applications.

* Support optimization against Brand KPI’s and learning agenda and enforce reporting escalating issues and opportunities as they arise.

* Lead Creative Pod and outside agency resources to ensure effective and engaging communications that drive results.

* Collaborate with Culinary/R&D, Beverage, Operations and Supply Chain on the development, implementation and promotion of new food and beverage menu items.

* Lead team to develop and execute new restaurant opening or renovations to generate awareness and trial ensuring a strong start and achievement of financial hurdles.

* Work with leadership team and product team to develop in restaurant point of purchase materials such menus and promotional materials as appropriate.

* Hold team accountable to track and manage the marketing budget ensuring the most efficient and effective spend and return.

* Develop and motivate marketing team through effective implementation of performance and career development plans.

* Grow the Dine-In and Off-Premises business leveraging current assets as well as determining creative, profitable new approaches to opportunities.

* Set the agenda and prioritize team activities in a dynamic environment supporting speed, simplicity, agility in decision making and action

* Continue to evolve and articulate the brand’s strategy driving the development and execution of ideas and initiatives that build the business.


REQUIREMENTS


Education:


* Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or relevant work experience required.

* Master’s Degree in related field preferred


Experience/Skills:


* A dynamic individual who is an experienced marketing leader with 10+ years of experience.

* Exceptional people and development skills. Proven track record in attracting, assessing, developing, coaching, and managing talent. Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead people and get results through others.

* Ability to create and articulate an inspiring vision for a Brand.

* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functional teams and with distributed workforces. Experience building positive alliances and relationships, both inside and outside the home office. A history of partnering with field/operations team is essential.

* Broad marketing skills; proven success in growing revenue through digital activities, building consumer-based brand equities and extending them by leveraging a full complement of marketing resources including consumer insights and analytics, advertising, CRM, PR, promotions, media, etc.

* Rigorous measurement acumen and discipline keeping the brand and the team focused and accountable for specific KPI’s that are consistently tracked and reported.

* Restaurant work experience (of any kind) is desired, not required.
