Job Description

The Training and Development Manager for Fleming's will report directly to the Director, Operations & Training Excellence and lead the strategy and design of 'innovative' training solutions to enable the restaurants and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar to achieve its business objectives. The Training and Development Manager will design, develop and implement sustainable training in partnership with the field training team and leadership. Content covered will include (but not limited to) leadership/management training, hourly functional training, and employee experience/orientation training. This role will also be responsible for advising the entire central team on learning best practices and enhancing the overall training infrastructure.

Essential Duties

*Partners with leaders in the organization to develop/implement On-Boarding and On-Going Management and Leadership programs

*Identifies training needs, develops appropriate training solution, validates and deploys training to achieve business objectives, drives operational excellence and 'makes it stick'

*Collaborates with cross functional business partners, content experts and participates in job shadowing to identify project and/or training need

*Collaborates with the CDR (Casual Dining Restaurants) Training Teams on BBI initiatives

*Uses learning and instructional design theory to complete needs assessment, develop and test, and deploy solutions

oContent Development: Designs, authors, and edits visual, engaging, intuitive, blended and classroom, training solutions and job aides

oEnsures training solutions are congruent with current adult learning theories

oFacilitates "train the trainer" instructor leadership curriculum

oValidates and measures effectiveness, including field visits, roundtables, focus groups and surveys

*Enhances brand competitiveness through leading-edge, innovative training improvements (ex. eLearning, Microlearning, and Apps)

*Leads and directs third party vendors to create, test, and implement training solutions

*Manages project timeline, milestones, budget, and ensures leadership alignment

*Leads effective project and training communication

*Supports brand operational and financial objectives with test and ROI friendly training solutions

*Lives brand Principles and Beliefs and incorporates Fleming's culture in all materials

Team Leadership:

*Train and coach team members in techniques and skills to determine appropriate training solution with regards to adult learning and instructional design theories

*Set instructional design standards and gather and disseminate best practices to the team

*Reviews/edits and provides feedback on training collateral other team members

*Implement team development programs

*Provides support for test initiatives development of training program

*Support the creation of project management plans and schedules


*5-10 years training and content development: creating instructor-led training, workshops, eLearning modules, and other related job aids and tools

*Knowledge and application of training and design processes (ex. ADDIE model)

*Experience with common authoring applications ex. Articulate Storyline and Adobe Creative Cloud

*Experience with LMS platforms and learning technologies

*Creative and can translate vision into solid, instructionally sound training solutions

*Passionate about continuous learning and innovation

*Leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate team members

*Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization

*Excellent project management, time management and organizational skills, and ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment

*Self-motivated, able to work independently and navigate through ambiguity to provide simple solutions

*Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills

*Analytical thinker and effective problem solver - works with the end state in mind to make initiatives stick

*Resourceful, confident 'can do' attitude with a proven track record for achieving deadlines

*High proficiency with English language and grammar with in-depth editing skills

*A strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail

*Ideal candidate would have restaurant or hospitality experience

Required Education:

*Demonstrated training background and experience required

*Microsoft Office 365 products, such as Publisher, Word, PowerPoint

*Bachelor's degree required

*Advanced degree/certifications in Educational or Instructional Design preferred
