Senior Legal Specialist
As a Sr. Legal Specialist, you will play a critical role in protecting the company and shaping its approach to risk management and compliance. This position combines hands-on strategic data analysis and cross-functional collaboration. You will partner with internal stakeholders, claim professionals, and outside counsel to manage complex General Liability (GL) and Workers’ Compensation (WC) claims, track litigation trends, and contribute to safety and compliance initiatives. Your work will directly influence how we defend claims, mitigate future risk, and safeguard our people and brand.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with internal teams to gather, review, analyze critical documentation and information supporting GL and WC matters.
- Conduct fact investigations, including witness interviews, to strengthen case strategies.
- Act as a trusted liaison with outside counsel, claims managers, restaurant operators, experts, and third parties.
- Provide data-driven insights on GL and WC claims to identify patterns and improve outcomes.
- Coordinate and organize discovery, subpoenas, interrogatories, and trial materials.
- Track and monitor active litigation matters, ensuring timely updates and resolution support.
- Manage compliance reporting, including OSHA and Bureau of Labor Statistics requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations leadership to spot safety trends and build proactive mitigation strategies.
- Stay current on court procedures and evolving legal requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization—always keeping a “Restaurant First” mindset.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities under time pressure without sacrificing accuracy.
- Strong writing, verbal communication, and data analysis capabilities.
- Tech-savvy with comfort in Microsoft Office Suite, Legal Tracker, Origami, and document management platforms; eager to learn new internal systems.
- Problem-solver with flexibility, resilience, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
