Senior Compliance Specialist
Job Description
The Senior Compliance Specialist promotes, supports and sustains a culture of compliance and ethics at the Company and plays a crucial role in ensuring that the Company complies with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies. The Senior Compliance Specialist provides assistance and support to the Chief Compliance Officer and works independently to plan and coordinate compliance projects, interacting with employees at all levels within the Company. The Senior Compliance Specialist’s responsibilities include, among others, maintaining the policy and procedure data base, overseeing and managing annual training on compliance topics and compliance awareness initiatives, acting as point of contact for our third-party compliance service providers, and ensuring company compliance with U.S. data privacy laws.
I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for day-to-day management of the company-wide policy and procedure database and for facilitating periodic review of policies and procedures by subject matter experts
- Maintains an understanding of current U.S. data privacy laws and works with IT and others to ensure compliance
- Responsible for hotline case management platform oversight and the analysis of reporting metrics
- Responsible for independent analysis of Gift and Entertainment Policy on case-by-case basis and for tracking adherence with its requirements
- Maintains the Designated Employee list to ensure compliance with insider trading regulations
- Participates in the research and development of compliance and ethics policies and procedures and provides recommendations based on research and best practice
- Works with cross-functional team to design, review and deliver company-wide training on compliance and ethics to comply with laws, and enhance employee awareness and engagement
- Designs and publishes various compliance and ethics communications
- Acts as point of contact for our third-party compliance service providers and platforms
- Acts as back-up for other compliance and/or legal team functions
- Provides administrative support as needed and maintains accurate contract files/records/database.
- Assists with special projects and performs other duties, as assigned
II. REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, required.
- Compliance Specialist Certificate, preferred.
Experience/Skills:
- 5+ years of experience working in the field of corporate compliance required
- 5+ years of experience with data privacy law compliance required
- Proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs
- Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team and across business units as appropriate
- Pro-actively and professionally act with self-awareness, sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while delivering timely, high-quality results
- Ability to proactively identify and analyze issues, develop solutions and deliver results in a timely manner
- Ability to learn quickly, think independently and perform extremely sensitive tasks in a fast-paced, pressure-filled work environment
- Advanced analytical, communication and writing skills required
- Must be comfortable communicating and defending recommendations with leaders at all levels of the organization, including executives
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required
- Some proficiency in using Navex/EthicsPoint Hotline case management system preferred
