Job Description

Bloomin' Brands is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist (Culture Coach) to join our corporate Legal Team. This role will investigate and respond to reports from employees and field leadership, and handle other complex matters exercising discretion and using independent judgment to determine outcomes and appropriate corrective action.


The Employee Relations Specialist may also provide consultation, guidance and coaching to field management to address employee behavior and performance concerns. Provide guidance and assist with the development and delivery of appropriate feedback or remedial action. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of employment laws and Company policies. Key contributor with in-house counsel to develop strategy and prepare responses to EEOC, DOL, OSHA charges and requests or threatened litigation; participate as needed with litigation. Maintain required documentation within Navex EthicsPoint case management system, including intake, investigative notes, supporting documents, and reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


*Investigates employee complaints, interviews witnesses, reviews documentation, makes findings, and recommends appropriate resolution.

*Consults, advises, coaches and guides field managers in effectively dealing with employment issues.

*Collaborates closely with Employee Relations Managers, Human Resources Business Partners and Operations team to ensure coaching, counseling, discipline and investigations are handled appropriately and consistently.

*Appropriately escalates and reports issues to in-house counsel.

*Assist with ensuring compliance with federal and state law and regulations concerning employment.


REQUIREMENTS:


Education:

*Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or other related field strongly preferred, advanced degree, SHRM-CP and/or J.D. a plus.


Experience/Skills:


*At least 3 to 5 years of experience conducting and documenting workplace investigations.

*Excellent writing skills.

*Strong organizational skills.

*Ability to multitask.

*Ability to identify and define problems and recommend solutions based on facts.

*Ability to prepare comprehensive investigative summary and present ideas and recommended conclusions clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, and review the work of field leadership, and provide appropriate conclusions and feedback.

*Ability to research and analyze information to arrive at valid conclusions, action plans, and recommendations when appropriate.

*Strong working knowledge of HR policies and procedures, as well as state and federal employment laws and regulations.

*Ability to maintain confidentiality as required; demonstrates sound business and professional ethics.

*Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment.

*Subject matter expert in one or more specialized regulatory areas (e.g., EEO, ADA, FLSA) preferred.

*Large company experience preferred.

*Retail/Restaurant Industry experience preferred.

*Demonstrated consulting and diagnostic skills, able to engage active listening skills and provide sound and relevant diagnosis and advice.

*Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, required.

*Experience with Navex Ethicspoint program a plus.

*Fluency in Spanish a plus.
